Biography

Ivan Zecevic, Croatian-Norwegian violist, is regularly invited to play as solo viola in orchestras such as Paris Chamber Orchestra, Danish National Chamber Orchestra, Swedish Chamber Orchestra and Lahti Sinfonia. He graduated with Master degree at the Norwegian Academy of music in Oslo, with Prof. L. A. Tomter.

Ivan has received prizes from various competitions, and he has received scholarships from the Norwegian Chamber Orchestra, as well as the Oslo Philharmonic Orchestra.

During his studies he regularly participated in master classes with musicians including Tabea Zimmermann, Lawrence Power, Anthony Marwood, Wolfgang Klos, Petras Radzevicius, Isabelle van Keulen, Roland Vamos, Pierre-Henri Xuereb, Jennifer Stumm and chamber music master classes with Hatto Beyerle, Oslo string quartet, Vertavo quartet, Takacs quartet, Artemis quartet, Ssens trio, Jens Harald Bratlie.

Since 2008, Ivan has been a member of Zagreb Soloists. With this ensemble he has performed internationally in more than 400 concerts, and as a soloist. In 2013, Ivan got a full time position in the Zagreb Philharmonic Orchestra.

From 2016 until 2018 Ivan served as a solo violist in Malmö Opera.
Dextra foundation was supporting Ivan by lending him an instrument from their collection between 2016 until 2019.

Currently, he holds the alternating solo position in Kristiansand Symphony Orchestra.

As a chamber and orchestral musician he has been involved in recordings for NRK, Sveriges radio, Audite, Decca, HRT and Naxos.
In 2019. as a member of Danish National Chamber Orchestra, Ivan received ICMA Recording of the year award.
